Relationship between state of anxiety and mobile phone addiction in college students:the mediating role of psychological craving for mobile phones
Objective To explore the influence of state of anxiety on mobile phone addiction in college students and the mediating effect of psychological craving for mobile phones,in order to provide a new path and direction for relieving mobile phone addiction in college students.Methods A total of 674 college students from four universities in Jiangsu Province were investigated by questionnaire about their state of anxiety,mobile phone addiction and psychological craving for mobile phones.Results State of anxiety and mobile phone craving were positively correlated with mobile phone addiction(r=0.23,P<0.01;r=0.78,P<0.01).State of anxiety was positively correlated with phone craving(r=0.18,P<0.01).The direct and indirect effects of state of anxiety on mobile phone addiction were statistically significant,the Bootstrap 95%CI were(0.08,0.29)and(0.16,0.43),respectively,and the mediating effect was 0.30,accounting for 63.83%of the total effect.Conclusion State of anxiety can promote mobile phone addiction directly or indirectly by increasing psychological craving for mobile phone.
