Effect of college students'self-concordance on academic stress:the mediating role of coping styles
Objective To explore the influence of self-harmony and coping style on academic stress and its mediating role in a university in Xi'an,and to provide a theoretical basis for effectively reducing academic stress.Methods A total of 177 college students in Shaanxi Province were selected and measured by self-concordant scale,coping style questionnaire and learning stress questionnaire,and then structural equation analysis was carried out.Results The structural equation was well fitted(RMSEA<0.1,GFI and NFI>0.9).The model persuasion rate of self-concordance and coping style on academic stress was 47.2%.Self-and-experience disharmony was an important predictor of negative coping style and academic stress(β=0.155,P<0.05;β=0.280,P<0.05).Negative coping style was an important predictor of academic stress(β=0.440,P<0.05).The total effect of disharmony between self and experience on academic stress was 0.581(P<0.05),and the mediating effect of negative coping style was 0.114(P<0.05),accounting for 19.62%of the total effect.Conclusion The results show that college students'self-harmony,especially self-and-experience disharmony is an important predictor of academic stress,and negative coping styles have a significant mediating effect between self-and-experience disharmony and academic stress.
