Covering intermediary effect of academic will strategies of liberal arts students:a study of the relationship between negative academic emotions and learning input
Objective To understand the characteristics of learning input and pathways to enhancement among college liberal arts students. Methods A total of 328 liberal arts students were investigated with the UWES-S Scale, the Academic Emotion Scale for College Students, and the Academic Will Strategy Scale. Results The learning input of college liberal arts students was higher than the general level(t=3.66,P<0.001).The learning input of female liberal arts students was significantly higher than that of male liberal arts students(t=-2.89,P=0.004).There was a significant negative correlation between learning input and negative academic emotions(r=-0.28,P<0.001),and a significant positive correlation between learning input and academic will strategies(r=0.52,P<0.001).Negative motivation acted as a shielding intermediary between negative outcome orientation and learning input[95%CI(0.08,0.16)].Conclusion Negative motivation,a practice that strengthened the learning will by imagining the negative consequences of learning, can be both beneficial and detrimental to learning input.
