Objective To explore the mediating effect of rumination between perfectionism and suicidal risk in college students.Methods A simple random sampling method was used to select 843 undergraduate students from an university in Nanjing.General Perfectionism Scale for College Students,Ruminative Responses Scale,Suicide Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised were used for investigation.Results Positive perfectionism and negative perfectionism were positive correlated with rumination(r=0.22,0.56;P<0.01,respectively).Rumination was positive correlated with suicidal risk(r=0.47,P<0.01).Negative perfectionism was positive correlated with suicidal risk(r=0.37,P<0.01).The relation between perfectionism and suicidal risk was partly mediated by rumination,and the mediating effect accounted for 63.41%of the total effect.Conclusion Perfectionism will not only directly affect the suicidal risk of college students,but also affect suicide risk through the mediating effect of rumination.
