Objective To develop a scale for measuring the academic diligence and to test its reliability and validity for primary school students. Methods Using a convenience sampling method,a total of 710 valid questionnaires were collected for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis,772 for confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency coefficient and split-half reliability analysis, and 144 for retest reliability analysis. Results The scale included two factors:responsibility and persistence,as well as interest and knowledge seeking.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fit was good(χ2/ν=5.051,RMSEA=0.072,GFI=0.911,CFI=0.924).The total score of the questionnaire correlates was significantly correlated with factors(r=0.866 and 0.951),and the factors were correlated with each other. The internal consistency coefficient,split-half reliability and test-retest reliability were 0.803-0.919,0.841-0.902 and 0.759-0.855,respectively.Conclusion The academic diligence scale for primary school students has good reliability and validity, meeting the requirements of psychometrics.
