Effect of parental style on students in grade one of senior high school temperament optimism:the mediating effect of emotion regulation
Objective To explore the relationship between parenting style,temperament optimism and mood regulation in grade one,and analyze the mediating role of emotion regulation strategies.Methods Four hundred fifty-five senior high school students from Datong were investigated by S-EMBU-C,Emotional Regulation Questionnaire and LOT-R.Results ① Parental affective warmth was positively correlated with cognitive reappraisal(r=0.166,P<0.01)and temperament optimism(r=0.247,P<0.01),negatively correlated with expression inhibition(r=-0.122,P<0.01);parental rejection was negatively correlated with cognitive reappraisal(r=-0.257,P<0.01)and temperament optimism(r=-0.267,P<0.01).Overprotection is negatively correlated with cognitive reappraisal(r=-0.177,P<0.01);cognitive reappraisal was positively correlated with temperament optimism(r=0.290,P<0.01),while expression inhibition was negatively correlated with temperament optimism(r=-0.178,P<0.01).② Cognitive reappraisal partially mediated the relationship between emotional warmth(β=0.034,P<0.01),parental rejection(β=-0.083,P<0.01)and temperament optimism;expression inhibition partially mediates the relationship between emotional warmth and temperament optimism(β=0.014,P<0.01).Conclusion Warm family is conducive to the formation of temperament optimism in children.Parents'different parenting styles will further influence temperamental optimism through the mediation of children's emotional regulation strategies.
