A Preliminary Study of Cāndravyākara(n)a and the History of its Tibetan Translation
Based on the catalogue of the palm-leaf scriptures in Sanskrit collected in the Tibet Autonomous Re-gion,the catalogue of Sanskrit texts at the University of Cambridge,and the related information in monographs and papers of some scholars,a comprehensive analysis has been done on the preservation of the texts of Cāndra-vyākara(n)a,and a preliminary analysis on the basic genealogy of Cāndravyākara(n)a,that is,the four layers of pri-mary literature and subsidiary one.The paper also analyzes the Tibetan translations of the Cāndravyākara(n)a liter-ature and extracts important information,such as translators,time and places recorded in the prefaces of the Ti-betan translations in order to reveal the history of the translation and dissemination of Cāndravyākara(n)a in Tibet.
