On the Writings about Princess Wencheng in the Texts from the Qing Dynasty
Before the Qing Dynasty,the writings about Princess Wencheng was mainly centered on the historical event of"Tang's Princess and Tubo's(the ancient Tibet)King's Marriage",which had been briefly recorded in the historical books of different dynasties.As more people having been to Tibet and wrote about the princess dur-ing the Qing dynasty,in the Chinese texts she was started to be sanctified as a paragon.The article discusses how the princess was written about in historical records,poems and travelogues in different periods of the Qing dynas-ty.From the Han-Chinese and Tibetan historical books,it can be found that the writers reconstructed their per-ceptions based on what they saw and heard in Tibet when it was under the governance of the Qing's government.The changes in the textual writings presents the Qing people's acceptance of the diverse cultures of the inland and Tibet as well as their emotions.The writing of Princess Wencheng during this period is actually cultural crys-tallization of the Chinese nation's multi-cultures.
