The Historical Evolution and Sacredness of the Official Worship of Qinghai Lake
The official worship of Qinghai Lake represents a distinctive cultural phenomenon,which is deeply root-ed in Chinese heritage and distinct from widespread worship practices.During the Ming and Qing dynasties,fol-lowing the efforts made in state-led social governance,the sacredness of Qinghai Lake was entrenched leading to the formation of close-knit worship alliances.Throughout the Republic of China era,ongoing innovations transformed the official worship into a unique cultural event around the area of Qinghai Lake.This study asserts that while serving as a tool for rulers to maintain political authority,the official worship has significantly contrib-uted to fostering national unity,ensuring border stability,and nurturing local culture.It serves as an exemplary il-lustration of how national will shapes local culture with positive implications for establishing shared spiritual-cultural spaces today.
