Digital Economy and Common Prosperity:the Late-developing Advantages of Underdeveloped Regions
Digital economy can unleash the late-developing advantages of less developed regions and help them realize common prosperity,which is of great significance to the realization of high-quality development.After having examined the panel data of prefecture-level cities from 2011 to 2021,the research explores the internal logic of digital economy to promote the realization of common prosperity in less developed regions,and suggests the feasible path of digital economy to promote the realization of common prosperity in the regions by taking their late-developing advantages.It is found that,firstly,digital economy is conducive to unleashing the late-develop-ing advantages of the regions and enhancing their common prosperity in terms of both affluence and commonality.Secondly,digital economy can further unleash the late-developing advantages of the less developed regions by improving the education and information infrastructure construction there.Thirdly,digital economy has heteroge-neity in realizing common prosperity in different city clusters in the regions,as digital economy plays a more sig-nificant role in promoting the realization of common prosperity in the city cluster of Ningxia and cities along the Yellow River,and Hohhot,Baotou,Ordos and Yulin cities,while it woks more effectively in enhancing the afflu-ence of the city cluster of Ningxia and cities along the Yellow River,the city cluster of Gansu and Qinghai prov-inces and that of the central area of Yunan province,in upgrading the commonality of,and it upgrades common-ality of in the city cluster of Ningxia and cities along the Yellow River,the city cluster of Gansu and Qinghai provinces and the central area of Yunan province,and Hohhot,Baotou,Ordos and Yulin cities.Fourthly,digital economy is conducive to promoting the formation of an intra-regional interactive development pattern in the west-ern region,thus accelerating the process of realizing common prosperity.In response to the above research find-ings,corresponding policy recommendations are put forward.
