Identification of the Relationship between the Reba(Leba)Dance of Zhangzhung Civilization and that of Yunnan-Sichuan-Tibet's Intersection Area
Reba dance is performed in Tibet and the Tibetan-inhabited area of Yunnan,Sichuan,Gansu and Qing-hai,and is one of the classic dances there today. With the exchange and integration between Tibetan culture and the culture of surrounding ethnic groups,Reba dance gradually spread to the Naxi and Lisu ethnic groups in the intersection area of Yunnan-Sichuan-Tibet.In the course of its spread, the dance has obtained many new local-ized ethnic characteristics, thus it has retained its vitality through the ages.Previous studies have believed that the emergence and development of Reba dance is related to the Kagyupa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, and its origin is attributed to Milarepa,a master of the Kagyupa sect.A comprehensive research of the rituals,costumes,musi-cal instruments, props, lyrics, spread and development of Reba dance shows that the emergence and develop-ment of Reba dance is inseparable from the Zhangzhung(aka.Shangshung)civilization and the Bon religion.Since Buddhism replaced the Bon religion, many native Tibetan cultures, such as Reba Dance, are regarded orig-inated from Buddhism. In line with the original intention of revealing the original historical facts,a new discus-sion is made on the origin and development of Reba dance and its relationship with Buddhist,Bon's,and the Naxi's culture,so as to highlight the fundamental position of Zhangzhung civilization in the history of Tibetan civ-ilization.
