On the Definition,Historical Origin,and Categories of"Dodi"Art of Singing and Dancing and its Cultural Features
"Dodi"art of singing and dancing,an important singing and dancing performance of the Tibetan people in the south of Gansu Province,is performed in Tebo County and Drukchu County of Tibetan Autonomous Prefec-ture of Gannan by the Bailongjiang River."Dodi"has a long history,unique and diverse forms,and contains pro-found ethnic cultural connotations and regional cultural characteristics.The previous research of"Dodi"is limit-ed to case studies of a village or a certain place,and mainly focused on its art form,so there is few holistic and systematic studies of the art.Thus,this paper contains more systematic interpretation and explanation of the defi-nition,names,historical origin,categories,religious connotation and cultural attributes of"Dodi"based on field-work,relevant research results,the author's own experience of having lived in this cultural area and been ex-posed to"Dodi"art of singing and dancing,as well as her long-term attention to the art so as to form a new under-standing of"Dodi",and provide a reference for further promoting the research in this field.
