Research on the Relationship Between Traditional Tibetan Astronomic Almanacs and Tibetan People's Production and Daily Life
This paper primarily elucidates of four aspects of the Tibetan astronomical and calendrical calculations,namely the Twenty-Four Solar Terms,phenological calendar,the four seasons,and the Tibetan almanac.Among them,the Twenty-Four Solar Terms,a traditional time division system of China,was introduced into the Tibetan-inhabited regions from the inland China,while the phenological calendar represents one of the more primitive methods of natural observation within Tibetan calendrical systems.And the Tibetan almanac is the most practi-cal and widely used reference book for the Tibetan people to manage time in their production and daily life,as it contains detailed information of years,months,days,the sixty-year cycle(also known as the"sixty-year rota-tion"),and the four seasons.Tibetan astronomical and calendrical knowledge continues to play a vital role in peo-ple's production,daily life,and timekeeping in Tibetan-inhabited regions to this day.
