News Narrative Strategies Guided by Public Opinion of Mainstream Media in Ethnic Regions-Taking Tibet Daily's report on the Palgon Chogdrup and Wangyel Phuntsok Incident as an example
In 1957,during the transitional period of the democratic reform in Tibet,the incident a headman named Palgon Chogdrup tortured a Nangsen(nang-zan,a house slave)Wangyel Phuntsok in Gyangze ignited serious so-cial repercussions.Tibet Daily,the official newspaper of the Preparatory Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Re-gion,which had been issued for only a year,continuously reported on the incident for six months,forming a per-vasive wave of public opinion that paved the way for the democratic reform in Tibet.This paper delves into the narrative techniques employed by Tibet Daily in its consensus propaganda,studying the aspects such as narra-tive structure,narrative strategies,narrative time,narrators and narrative perspectives,and narrative objects with the aim to decipher the narrative strategies of mainstream media in ethnic regions in guiding public opinion.
