The Impact of Agricultural Subsidies on the Poverty Vulnerability of Rural Households
Despite China's success in alleviating absolute poverty, the issue of relative poverty still exists, particularly in rural areas. It is anticipated that the agricultural subsidies will play a role in alleviating poverty among rural households. This study employs the three-stage generalized least squares estimation(FGLS)method to measure the poverty vulnerability of rural households, utilizing data from the China Household Finance Survey(CHFS).Furthermore, the Probit regression and mediation effect model are used to examine the effect and mechanism of the distribution of agricultural subsidies on the poverty vulnerability of rural households,as well as the heterogeneity of their impact on the poverty vulnerability of rural households under different sample subgroups. This study also provides some theoretical support and policy recommendations for reducing the vulnerability of rural households to poverty.
