Experimental Study on Water Sealing Performance of Shaft Pipe Joints Considering the Effect of Compression Amount of Rubber Ring
The objective of this study was to evaluate the water sealing performance of a rubber sealing ring at the joint of an F-type cap and an insert pipe.A sealing model test device, which allows for the adjustment of the compression amount of the sealing ring, was designed. The sealing performance of the sealing ring was evaluated under a range of internal and external water pressure conditions, including single and double channel sealing rings, varying compression amounts of the rubber ring with different opening angles. The findings indicate that the double sealing ring is an effective means of enhancing the water sealing capacity, irrespective of the compression amount. When the compression amount is minimal, the water sealing capacity of the inner water pressure is superior to that of the outer water pressure. An increase in the opening angle will result in a notable reduction in the sealing capacity of the sealing ring. Therefore,it is essential to exercise caution and strictly control the opening angle between pipe joints in practical engineering applications. The findings of this research may serve as a reference point for the water sealing of pipe joints in practical engineering applications.
