The Songka mining area is located in the magmatic arc of Gangdise Xiachayu volcano, and the magmatic activity is relatively frequent, resulting in the development of a large number of rock masses in the mining area. The host rocks of the granite ore for decoration in the mining area are the Late Cretaceous Middle-fine-grained biotite monzogranite.Through systematic investigation,a total of 7 ore bodies were delineated in the mining area. The ex-posed width of the ore bodies was between 50~500m,with undeveloped color spots and lines, and generally undevel-oped joints. The background color is grayish-white.The color is uniform and stable, and it is relatively clear. The ore appears to be collageable and it is a medium to low grade indoor and outdoor decoration stone.Through the statisti-cal analysis of joint fissures, the distribution characteristics and dominant directions of joints in the ore body were pre-liminarily clarified. The dominant direction of joint tendency with great influence on the ore body is 295°,which is in the range of 290°~300°.The dominant direction of the joint is 30°,in the range of 20°~40°.The rate of stone-block calculated by the two surface joint sketch points(SKMJL1 and SKMJL2)in the mining area are η1=51.10%and η2 =44.59%,respectively,and the average block rate is 48.43%,which has good economic potential.
