Based on the data from 2011 to 2021,this paper takes 12 provinces and autonomous regions in western China as the research object,constructs an evaluation index system of new urbanization and common prosperity,ana-lyzes the impact of new urbanization on common prosperity,and selects consumption level,public service and indus-trial structure upgrading as intermediary variables for further analysis.Research has found that the level of new urban-ization and common prosperity in the western region is comparatively lower than that in the central and eastern re-gions,and the new urbanization in the western region has a significant positive impact on common prosperity.Further analysis reveals that the new urbanization in the western region has an indirect positive impact on common prosperity through consumption level,public services,and industrial structure upgrading.Based on this,this paper proposes to continue to strengthen the new urbanization in the western region,narrow the regional gap and income gap to achieve the goal of common prosperity.
