Application of high flow oxygen in the treatment of high-altitude pulmonary edema
Objective To explore the experience of using high-flow oxygen therapy for high-altitude pulmonary edema. Methods A total of 50 patients with high-altitude pulmonary edema treated in our hospital were selected as the experimental subjects, and the time range was from August 2020 to August 2022.According to the random draw-ing method, the control group was divided into 25 cases with nasal cannula oxygen inhalation, and 25 cases in the ob-servation group were treated with high-flow oxygen inhalation. The treatment effect, changes in vital signs,complica-tions and patient comfort were compared between the two groups. Results The treatment efficacy of the observation group was 92%,significantly higher than that of the control group 68%(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the time of lung rales disappearance, chest X-ray shadow disappearance and hospital stay in observation group were shorter than those in control group(P<0.05).The complication rate of observation group was 8%,which was signifi-cantly lower than that of control group(32%)(P<0.05).The comfort level between the two groups before treatment was compared(P>0.05),and the indicators in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05)after treatment. Conclusion The treatment of patients with high-altitude pulmonary edema with high-flow oxy-gen therapy can effectively improve the efficacy and comfort of patients, shorten the time of lung rales, the time of disappearance of chest X-ray shadows and the length of hospital stay, and also reduce the complications of subsequent treatment. The effect of this treatment appears to be more obvious than the nasal cannula oxygen therapy which was commonly used in the past. Thus, this treatment method is worthy of wide clinical application and promotion.
