Research progress on drought resistance of highland barley in Xizang
Drought is one of the major abiotic stresses in crop production, which has great impact on the yield and quality of crops, and seriously hinders the production and sustainable development of crops.Highland barley is the main food crop and livestock fodder for the people in Xizang. However, most of the highland barley planting areas in Xizang are arid and semi-arid areas, and the annual precipitation is unevenly distributed, and its production is serious-ly affected by drought stress. In recent years, many scholars have conducted a lot of research on the morphological, physiological and molecular response mechanisms of highland barley under drought stress, and have achieved some important results.Based on the summary of previous studies, this paper summarizes the research progress related to drought resistance of highland barley from four aspects, including changes in morphology and yield, physiological and biochemical characteristics, genetics and genomics, and future research directions of highland barley under drought stress.
