This research constructs the logistics development index system in western China from five dimensions, namely economic development foundation, logistics industry scale, logistics infrastructure, logistics service level, and green development effectiveness.Based on the TOPSIS method of AHP-CRITIC comprehensive weights, the logistics development level from 2008 to 2022 was measured, and then the Gini coefficient was used to explore the source and com-position of its spatial differences, and the dynamic evolution process was analyzed by combining kernel density estima-tion and Markov chain. The results show that the logistics development level in the western region shows an overall up-ward trend, forming three echelons as high, medium and low, among which the logistics development level of Xizang Au-tonomous Region needs to be improved urgently. There are spatial differences in the level of logistics development among provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government)in the western region, and the unbalanced logistics development of the provinces in the southwest region is more prominent than that in the northwest re-gion.The convergence phenomenon of logistics development among neighboring provinces in the western region is more significant, and there are great constraints on the leapfrog development of some regions lagging behind in logistics devel-opment in a short period of time.Based on the level of logistics development in the western region, this paper analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution process of its logistics development, which can provide a reference for making full use of limit-ed logistics resources and promoting the effective implementation of logistics development policies in the western region.
