Diversity and activity patterns of Chinese rose-visiting insectsin Nyingchi,Xizang
In this study, the diversity, temporal dynamics and activity patterns of Chinese rose-visiting insects and their flower-visiting behaviors were investigated in Nyingchi,Xizang. In June,July and August 2021,during the peak flowering period of the month,6 surveys were conducted on Chinese roses in Nyingchi area of Tibet, and the experi-ments were carried out on two consecutive days of sunny weather every month, and the insects were randomly cap-tured by hand and net fishing. The daily activities, frequency, diversity and behavior of Chinese rose-visiting insects were analyzed.①A total of 2,787 flower-visiting insects were captured, belonging to 53 families of 7 orders,includ-ing Coleoptera(79.58%),Hymenoptera(2.55%),Diptera(16.25%),Homoptera(0.36%),Hemiptera(0.93%),Lepi-doptera(0.29%),and Dermatoptera(0.04%).Hymenoptera and Diptera were more active in flower visiting frequency,of 24 times and 4 times/5min respectively.②The Shannon diversity index and Pielou evenness index were the high-est in Rutelinae, with 0.37 and 0.09 respectively, which were significantly higher than those of other insects, and their communities were stable. The Shannon diversity index(H)of 16 families, including Cryptopteridae,Carabidae,Cor-dyluridae,Cecidomyiidae,was significantly lower than that of other insects, each of which was 0.00,and the mini-mum Pielou index(J)was 0.00,and the species richness Margalef index(R)was the lowest, indicating that the spe-cies are extremely low.③Affected by the ambient temperature, the daily activities of flower-visiting insects varied greatly which presented that 12:30-15:00 was the peak period of insect activity, while the activity of insects decreased from 9:30-11:30 and 16:00-18:00,and the number of insects visiting flowers in July was more than that in June and August, with a total of 1,278.This study revealed that different temperature conditions may significantly affect the species composition and activity of Chinses rose-visiting insects in Nyingchi,Xizang, and then affect the growth and development of plants and population stability.Diversity surveys can be used to determine the species richness and community stability of different insect species.
