This study utilizes Landsat satellite data and DEM data to analyze the snow cover and climate change along the Garl-Pulan-Zhongba-Gyirong line(Xizang section)of the Xinjiang-Xizang Railway from 2020 to 2023 through GIS.The results can provide a certain degree of reference for railway route selection, and can also be used to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the ice and snow disasters along the line section based on this study. The find-ings indicate that(1)the stable snow cover throughout the snow season is mainly distributed on mountain ridges at an altitude of 4200~5500 m,and there is more snow in the Kunsa Township of Garl County and the Ma Youmu Moun-tain area of Pulan County in the Ali region and the snow cover in the study area is mainly seasonal, greatly affected by climatic factors;(2)the spatiotemporal distribution of snow in southwestern Tibet is extremely uneven, and the dis-tribution of snow season varies greatly in the same month of the year, with a difference of more than 20%and an ex-treme month of more than 50%;(3)he average winter temperature in the study area ranges from-35.5 to 6.9℃,and the average wind speed ranges from 0 to 5.77 m/s in different months, which reaches the starting wind speed of snow particles and is conducive to the formation and development of windblown snow, and the impact of ice and snow di-sasters on engineering construction should be paid atttention during route selection.
