"Focusing on the works of predecessor"and"pursuing truthful history"in the Compilation of Complex History Books in Tibetan Language in Ming Dynasty
The compilation of historical books in Tibetan language during the Ming Dynasty underwent nearly a millennium of accumulation,refinement,and influence from Central Plain's historiography in Chinese.Both the quality and quantity of historical books improved significantly during this period.These books became rich in content and diverse in form,accumulating valuable methods and experiences related to compilation,pres-ervation,and utilization.The categorization of historical books also became increasingly detailed.Drawing upon primary sources from Chinese and Tibetan literary documents,this paper discusses the formation and develop-ment of comprehensive historical books in Tibetan during the Ming Dynasty.It explores the contrasting approach-es of"descriptive but not creative"and the pursuit of"reliable history"in the compilation process.Additionally,the paper analyzes the historical roots of the"descriptive but not creative"principle within Ming Dynasty Tibet-an comprehensive historical books,shedding light on the interactions and exchanges between the Han and Tibet-an ethnic groups,holding academic value for the study of Xizang history,the theory of Tibetan historical books compilation,and the strengthening a sense of the Chinese nation as one community.
