The Role of Medical Work on China's Borderland Governance—Reviewing the History of Communist Party of China's Medical Work in Xizang(1950-1959)
Following the peaceful liberation of Xizang, the CPC actively undertook medical work in the pro-cess of developing the region, establishing medical institutions, disseminating knowledge of health sciences,culti-vating ethnic medical professionals, and elevating the standards of infectious disease prevention and control. These efforts significantly improved the health conditions, medical environments, and hygiene practices among various ethnic groups of Xizang.Through endeavors on medical and healthcare work in Xizang, the CPC effective-ly bridged the gap between the people and the government, fostering ethnic unity and strengthening the people's recognition and acceptance of the CPC and the new China. This,in turn, laid a crucial foundation for the subse-quent development of healthcare in Xizang,as well as the implementation of democratic reforms and the establish-ment of the autonomous region.
