Sherab Gyatso and Modern Han-Tibetan Cultural Interactions
Sherab Gyatso was a prominent patriotic religious figure in modern Chinese history.During the transitional period between the old and new eras,Sherab Gyatso,alongside contemporary Han and Tibetan intel-lectuals,played a significant role in promoting Han-Tibetan cultural exchanges and fostering the sense of commu-nity for the Chinese Nation.Sherab Gyatso was a pioneering figure in modern Han-Tibetan cultural interactions.He was the first Tibetan monk in the Republic of China to introduce Tsongkhapa's tri purusa paths at national uni-versities in the mainland.His interactions with Master Taixu and the inspiration he drew from new-style Buddhist education in the mainland,such as the Han-Tibetan Buddhist Dharma Institute,led him to establish the Qinghai Academy in Learning Tibetan Buddhism,and his contributions to the early development of modern monastic edu-cation in Tibetan Buddhism were substantial.
