Bailey's Activities and Influences during British Invasion of Xizang
Bailey,an official of the British Indian government,accompanied Younghusband in invading Xi-zang.He served in the Political Department of the British Indian government for a long time and held various po-sitions such as the British commercial commissioner in Gyantse and Yatung,and the political officer in Sikkim.By sorting out the historical facts of his interference in China's Xizang affairs and illegal infiltration into Xizang,and combining the British policy towards Xizang and the international background at that time,this paper analyz-es Bailey's multiple identities and roles in the British invasion of Xizang in the early 20th century,explores the damage his activities caused to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity in Xizang,and the hidden dangers left for the current China-Indian border disputes.
