Abstract
Tomb M1 at the Gurujamu Cemetery yielded significant artifacts, including a gold mask, brocade with characters meaning"marquis"and bird and animal patterns, and other precious relics, leading to a consen-sus that its occupant held the highest status within the cemetery. However, the absence of burial objects in the largest tomb,M2,has left the social status of its occupant uncertain.Based on a thorough examination of the spe-cific conditions of M2 and historical records suggesting the area once belonged to a matriarchal kingdom, this study proposes that the social status of the M2 occupant was comparable to or possibly even higher than that of the M1 occupant.
