Influence of urban green space being free of charge on residents' recreation behavior and their place attachment moderated different income levels
Based on 824 effective survey data gleaned from residents in Xuzhou City, the theoretical models suppose that residents' recreation participation is a mediator of the relationship between residents' perception for opening of green space and their place attachment, while the mediation model will be moderated by residents' income using structural equation modeling. Conclusions are as follows:1) whole sample data support the residents' recreation participation mediation model. When green spaces open freely to the urban residents, they will take an active part in recreation there and form place attachment mediated by their participation in recreation. At the same time, residents' positive perception will also have an influence directly on their place attachment for the city.2) Residents' income is a significant variable to moderate the recreation participation mediation by influencing the paths which constitute the direct, indirect, and total effects of mediated models.Opening of green spaces is of great importance for low income group since their dependence of the city mainly comes from their participation in recreation in the open green space.3) Moderated mediation model can be helpful to well understand the fundamental mechanics for the whole samples structural equation model and to well validate that income is the moderated factor to impact residents' recreation behavior and place attachment.
