Spatio-temporal disparities in coordinated development of rural revitalization and new-type urbanization in Huaihai Economic Zone
Coordinated development of rural revitalization and new-type urbanization constitutes the fundamental ap-proach to achieving high-quality development in both urban and rural areas.Built on the mechanism for coordinated development between rural revitalization and new-type urbanization,the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of their synergy in Huaihai Economic Zone are analyzed by using index data from 10 district-level cities from 2007 to 2021.Methods such as the entropy weight method,the coupling coordination model,and Markov chains were em-ployed.Findings indicate that both rural revitalization and new-type urbanization display an oscillating upward trend in the development level,with significant spatial imbalances.The types of coupling and coordination between rural revitalization and new-type urbanization have evolved from"near discoordination"to"good coordination",character-ized by a"low-high-low-high"spatial pattern from south to north.The state of coordination is relatively stable,ad-hering to the general principle of incremental progression,making abrupt leaps in development levels unlikely within a short timespan.To bolster the coordinated development of rural revitalization and new-type urbanization in Hua-ihai Economic Zone,initiatives could start from accelerating the construction of modern agricultural infrastructure,perfecting agricultural talent development mechanisms,and devising regionally tailored plans for both rural revital-ization and urbanization.
