Clinical Study on Acupuncture Combined with Guben Peiyuan Decoction in Treating Alzheimer's Disease of Kidney Deficiency and Phlegm Stasis Type
Objective:To observe the curative effect of the therapy of acupuncture combined with Guben Peiyuan Decoction on Alzheimer's disease of kidney deficiency and phlegm stasis type.Methods:A total of 126 patients with Alzheimer's disease of kidney deficiency and phlegm stasis type in Wenzhou Seventh People's Hospital from March 2021 to September 2023 were selected as the study objects,and were divided into the control group and the treatment group according to random number table method,with 63 patients in each group.In the treatment course,three cases were eliminated in both groups,and 60 cases in both groups completed the study.The control group was treated with western medicine combined with acupuncture,and the treatment group was additionally given Guben Peiyuan Decoction based on the treatment of the control group.Both groups were treated for two months.The clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups,and the changes of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores,Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-cognitive section(ADAS-cog)and Activities of Daily Living(ADL)were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results:The total effective rate was 96.67%(58/60)in the treatment group and 78.33%(47/60)in the control group,the difference being significant(P＜0.05).After treatment,the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores such as intelligence decline,loss of vitality,expressionless eyes,soreness and weakness in the waist and knee,dizziness and tinnitus in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05),and the above five scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the ADAS-cog and ADL scores in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05),and the above two scores in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was 12.77%(6/47)in the control group and 8.62%(5/58)in the treatment group,there being no significant difference between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion:The therapy of acupuncture combined with Guben Peiyuan Decoction has a great therapeutic effect on Alzheimer's disease,which can effectively relieve symptoms like physical discomforts,improve cognitive function and activities of daily living,with great safety.
