Objective To explore the effect of intensive care team model combined with ventilator cluster management in elder-ly patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD)complicated with respiratory failure.Meth-ods 120 elderly patients with AECOPD and respiratory failure admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to March 2023 were se-lected as research subjects, and they were divided into control group and combined group by the random number table method, with 60 cases in each group.Patients in the control group were given ventilator cluster management, and patients in the combined group were combined with critically ill full-time nursing team model management based on the nursing in the control group.Blood gas in-dicators partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2),partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PaCO2),respiratory pH value before and after interven-tion and hospitalization status[invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV)time,non-invasive ventilation(NIV)time, total mechanical ventilation time, hospital stay]and incidence rates of complications during intervention were observed in both groups of patients.Re-sults After intervention, the PaO2 and pH value in combined group were higher than those in control group while the PaCO2,IMV time,NIV time, total mechanical ventilation time, hospital stay and incidence rates of complications were lower or shorter than those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of critically ill full-time nursing team model and ventilator cluster manage-ment can improve the symptoms of respiratory failure, shorten the treatment cycle, and reduce the risk of complications in elderly pa-tients with AECOPD and respiratory failure.
