Metaphor is an indispensable cognitive way for human beings to comprehend the world.The body is the starting point and foundation for human beings to understand and perceive the world.The human metaphor formed by the combination of the two runs through the process of human cognition construction and development."Breast"is one of vitally significant part of the human body.The metaphors of"breast"as their source domain exist exten-sively in both Chinese and English.Based on the corpus of"breast"metaphorical word clusters collected by CCL and COCA corpora,this study compares and analyzes relevant expressions.It is found that Chinese and English lan-guages share four images,including the sorrow feeling,the place for emotions,spatial location and body organs.Based on the macro differences of cultural scripts,Chinese and English corpus also reflects the different uses of bearing metaphor,organ radiation range and action metaphor.
