Memory law is an important legislative measure for regulating historical narratives, characterized by its political nature, specificity, and complexity. It is a crucial initiative for a nation to enhance the cohesion of its po-litical community. Article 37 of the Patriotic Education Law has marked the beginning of memory law in our coun-try,but it also faces challenges such as a lack of theoretical foundation and an incomplete legislative system. Since historical memory has been elevated to a national and social legal interest in our country, this makes memory law necessary, feasible, and legitimate. On this premise, based on the political, specific, and composite characteristics of memory law,we can summarize the potential pathways for improving our country's memory law:filling legisla-tive gaps, strengthening the protection of legal interests in historical memory, and promoting the duty to remember at both individual and national levels. At the same time,it is also necessary to guard against the disorderly expan-sion of public power during the process of memory legislation.
