High-quality development of local colleges and universities is not only a realistic need to adapt to rapid economic development,but also an active choice to realize their own development. The development of local colle-ges and universities in the new era has such contemporary meanings as wholeness,dynamism,characteristics and complexity. At present,local colleges and universities in China are facing the real situation of serious homogeniza-tion,weak ability to attract high-quality students,lack of superior teachers,insufficient ability to serve the region,and more complicated governance structure in the development process. In the new stage,local universities must strengthen the construction of school characteristics and promote their own connotation development;build a charac-teristic cultivation system and improve the quality of talent cultivation;comprehensively promote the construction of faculty and continuously improve the quality of education and teaching;focus on the advantageous characteristics of disciplines and continuously improve the ability to serve the region;optimize the internal governance structure and comprehensively promote the modernization of governance ability.
