Study on stress and alleviating effect of heavy metal Pb lead on germination of mulberry seed
The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of mulberry as a remediation plant in heavy metal contaminated environments,in particular to assess its tolerance and adaptability to lead(Pb)pollution.Firstly, the optimal pre-treatment conditions for seed germination were determined, and then the inhibition effect of vary-ing Pb concentrations on the process was observed. In addition, the effectiveness of EDTA and SDS in relieving Pb stress on seed germination were conducted. The results showed that Pb significantly hinders the germination of Morus alba seeds, with a more pronounced effect at higher concentrations. However, the application of EDTA and SDS was found to partially alleviate these inhibitory effects. These results provide a foundation for future research on the response mechanisms of Morus alba to Pb stress and its potential in phytoremediation.
