The quadruple effect of digital economy on the quality of economic development under the mediation of technological innovation—direct effect, mediating effect, spillover effect, and heterogeneous effect
This study incorporates technological innovation into the research framework, explores the quadruple effects of the digital economy on the quality of economic development, analyzes the mechanism of the digital economy on the quality of economic development in details, and empirically tests it by using panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2022 and spatial Durbin model.Research has found that the digital economy has a significant positive direct effect on the quality of economic development, and technological innovation plays a significant positive mediating effect in it.The mediating effect of technological innovation has a spatial heterogeneous effect, which is significantly positive in the eastern and central regions, but not significant in the northeast region, and there is no mediating effect in the western region. The effect of digital economy on the quality of economic development has significant positive spatial spillover effect and spatial heterogeneous effect. The spatial spillover effect is most significant in the eastern region, the significance in the central and northeast regions is low,and the western region is not significant.
