The Integration of Urban Ecocriticism and Taoist Thought:Building China's Sustainable Development Vision
In China, urban ecocriticism has reemerged in response to the twin imperatives of accelerating urbanization and impro-ving environmental quality. This critical approach reveals two common anti urban tendencies in literary works:anti-urban biases rooted in the binary opposition of nature and city, and neglected the uneven development of urban space. These anti urban narra-tives are not only widely present in literary works worldwide, but also have a negative impact on readers'cognition and the healthy development of urban ecology.Combining urban ecocriticism with traditional Chinese Taoism as a new concept,a new analytical perspective is proposed, and its practical application potential in constructing the vision of sustainable urban development is dem-onstrated.this paper proposes theoretical approaches to address these anomalies and present an ecological vision of the city that favors ecologically sustainable urban expansion.Ultimately,I posit the study of urban ecocriticism and Taoist philosophy is pivot-al to building sustainable urban ecological communities.
