Constructive Study of the Meaning of "Active" in Active Ageing
Using corpus linguistics as the research method, this study analyzes the collocates and collocation networks of the key-words "elderly" and "active" in mainstream media reports on"aging" in China. The aim is to deeply explore the characteristics and limitations of how the "positive" meaning in the national strategy of active aging is constructed by mainstream media. The findings reveal that the term"active" is characterized by being up-to-date,hierarchical,and systematic. However, the study also points out limitations in the "positive" meaning regarding the economic value of elderly caregiving, the scope of content covered in elderly education, and the range of participants involved in the construction of an aging society.
