Since the founding of the People's Republic of China(PRC)75 years ago,China's retail industry has undergone phases of unified purchase and sale,pilot liberalization,comprehensive liberalization,e-commerce development,new retail development,and digital transformation,achieving a historic leap from following the global retail industry to keeping pace with it and eventually leading it.However,it also faces practical challenges such as the gap between digital transformation of the retail industry and quality enhancement and expansion of consumption,the offline and online integration of the retail industry not effectively meeting consumer demands,lack of smooth connections between the construction of the modern retail system and the supply chain,considerable room for improvement in logistics digital development,and the need to strengthen the innovative development of the retail industry in dislocation competition.In order to promote the high-quality development of China's retail industry,it is necessary to accelerate the digital transformation of retail,enhance and expand consumption;promote the integrated development of online and offline retail industry to meet diversified consumer demands;build a supply chain ecosystem to serve the construction of the modern retail system;strengthen the digital development of logistics to serve the transformation and upgrading of the retail industry;accelerate innovative development in the retail industry and fulfill the function of the"last mile"in service industry development.
