Abstract
Simplification and streamlining was an important strategy implemented by the Communist Party of China in leading the resistance behind enemy lines during the Anti-Japanese War.The coherent records in Lai Chuanzhu's diary illustrate the practical difficulties faced by the New Fourth Army at that time,such as the shortage of military supplies,financial difficulties,and reduced operational space.In such a context,the leadership of the New Fourth Army adopted"fixed personnel and fixed organization"as the basis,combining the directives of the Party central committee and the specific circumstances to streamline,reduce personnel,and reorganize the army,realizing the localization in terms of military structure and level.At the same time,Lai's diary contains relevant records regarding personnel management after the streamlining of the troops,including specific measures like organizing a trouble shooting committee,and details and cases during the process of cadre adjustment.Lai Chuanzhu's diary provides a unique avenue to restore and reflect on the background,process,and methods of the New Fourth Army's simplification and streamlining,worth detailed exploring and summarizing.
