Analysis on influencing factors of cigarette and e-cigarette use intention within the next one year among middle school students in Hebei Province in 2021
Objective To investigate the cigarette and e-cigarette use intention within the next one year and its influencing factors among junior and senior high school students in Hebei Province,and to provide evidence for tobacco control intervention measures in campus.Methods Multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select students from junior high schools,general high schools and vocational high schools as the survey objects from August to November 2021.The 2021 Questionnaire on Tobacco Prevalence Among Chinese Youth developed by Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention was used to investigate students'basic information,cigarette and e-cigarette use,future tobacco use intention,.exposure to second-hand smoke and tobacco advertising acquisition,etc.The tobacco use intention in the next one year of students who had never tried cigarettes or electronic cigarettes was analyzed.R software was used for statistical analysis.Intention rates of tobacco use were compared by Chi-square test.The influencing factors of tobacco use intention were analyzed by multiple logistic regression analysis model.The test level was α=0.05.Results Among 48 532 students who had never tried smoking,13.98％of them were willing to use tobacco in the next one year.Among them,7.32％were willing to use cigarettes and 11.57％were willing to use electronic cigarettes.Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that gender,school type,pocket money per week,parents'smoking,friends'smoking,teachers'smoking,not receiving education on tobacco hazards in class,second-hand smoke exposure and exposure to tobacco control information in the media were all factors influencing the tobacco use intention in the next one year of junior and senior high school students in Hebei Province.Conclusions Junior and senior high school students'intention to use tobacco in the next one year was high in Hebei Province,and the influence of school and family is very important.In the future,we should strengthen the publicity of knowledge about tobacco hazards at the social and family levels,and actively create a smoke-free environment for students to study and live,to reduce the occurrence of students'trying to smoke.
