Analysis of the iodine nutrition monitoring results of 8-10 year-old students in Daxing District of Beijing from 2018 to 2022
Objective To analyze the iodine nutrition monitoring results of 8-10 year-old students in Daxing District of Beijing from 2018 to 2022,to evaluate the consumption and effectiveness of iodized salt among this population,and to provide basis for adjusting the prevention and control measures of iodine deficiency disorders among the population.Methods From 2018 to 2022,stratified cluster random sampling method was used every year to select five townships/subdistricts.One primary school was selected from each township/subdistrict.And 40 non-boarding students aged 8-10 years were selected from each primary school.Random urine samples and edible salt were collected from the students to detect urine iodine and salt iodine contents.At the same time,the thyroid volume was measured by B-ultrasound and the goiter rate was calculated.SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used for statistical analysis,and the test level was α=0.05.Results From 2018 to 2022,a total of 1 120 urine samples were collected from students,with a median of 166.6 μg/l of an appropriate level of iodine.The urine iodine ranged from 4.3 to 1 003.0 μg/l.Among them,the urine iodine concentration<100 μg/l accounted for 26.70%,and the urine iodine concentration>300 μg/l accounted for 15.63%.The median of iodized salt from student'families was 21.1 mg/kg,which was within the qualified range.The consumption rate of qualified iodized salt in households was on the rise.The coverage rate of qualified iodized salt in the district was 87.39%,close to 90%of the national target.The goiter rate of students was 2.14%,which met the national standard of eliminating goiter(goiter rate<5%).Conclusions The iodine nutrition of 8-10 year-old students in Daxing District of Beijing was adequate.However,in the prevention and control of iodine deficiency disorders in the student population in the future,it is still necessary to intensity the publicity of consuming qualified iodized salt,increase the consumption rate of iodized salt among students,and promote the healthy growth of students.
