Analysis of the current situation and influencing factors of unhealthy weight control behaviors among students of a science and engineering university in Hangzhou 2022
Objective To investigate and analyze the current situation and influencing factors of unhealthy weight control behaviors among students of a science and engineering university in Hangzhou,in order to provide a basis for formulating a healthy weight management plan for college students.Methods November 2022 to January 2023,students from a science and engineering university in Hangzhou were investigated by unhealthy weight control behaviors questionnaire,weight control knowledge,attitudes and practice questionnaire,and body image scale.The software SPSS 26.0 was adopted for for analysis,T test,variance analysis and Chi-squre test were use for comparison betwwen groups.Logistic regression was used to analyze influencing factors.Results About 39.41%of college students had taken unhealthy weight control behaviors in the past 30 days.The average score of the three dimensions of weight control knowledge,attitudes and practice among college students was(2.00±0.59),(2.05±0.81),and(2.40±0.70).The average score of fat negative body image was(1.19±0.93).Gender,BMI,weight control knowledge,attitudes and practice as well as fat negative body image were risk factors that affect whether college students engage in unhealthy weight control behavior(all P<0.05).Conclusions The incidence of unhealthy weight control behavior among college students in this school is relatively high,and there are significant individual differences in their weight control knowledge,attitudes and practice,as well as fat negative body image.Women,objective overweight/obesity,subjective negative Body image of obesity,and bad cognition of weight control may all lead to unhealthy weight control behaviors.Colleges and universities should take active measures to improve the knowledge level of healthy weight control among students,guide the formation of positive body image,and correct unhealthy weight control behaviors.
