Investigation and analysis on the results of mycobacterium tuberculosis infection screening in students of Gao County in 2023
Objective To analyze the prevalence and distribution characteristics of the infection of mycobacterium tuberculosis among students in Gao County of Yibin City, and to provide a scientific basis for optimising prevention and control measures of tuberculosis in schools. Methods In 2023,all primary schools, middle schools and vocational high schools in Gao County of Yibin City were selected to screen mycobacterium tuberculosis infection for all school children, and the suspected tuberculosis,a history of tuberculosis,a history of close contact with tuberculosis, and a tuberculin skin test were conducted for the respondents.Excel 2021 and SPSS 22.0 software were used for statistical analyses to describe the situation of TB infection in different groups of students, and the difference in infection rates was tested by Chi-square test.Trend Chi-square test was used to test the trend of age and age distribution of TB infection, and the test level α=0.05.Results Among the 43 659 participants received the TST retest,2 828 individuals tested positive, with a positivity rate of 6.48%(2 828/43 659).Among them,1 419 individuals were infected with mycobacterium tuberculosis, with an infection rate of 3.25%(1 419/43 659).Geographically,the highest infection rate was observed in Wenjing town at 5.00%(286/5725).There were statistically significant differences in infection rates among different townships(x2=367.87,P<0.001).The infection rate in urban schools was higher than that in rural areas, with statistical significance(x2=199.31,P<0.001).Boarding schools had a higher infection rate compared to non-boarding schools, with statistical significance(x2=699.83,P<0.001).In terms of age groups, the lowest infection rate was observed in primary school students at 1.18%(273/23 157),while the highest infection rate was found in high school students at 6.33%(433/6 837).There were statistically significant differences in infection rates among different age groups(x2=717.10,P<0.001),and the trend test suggested that as the age group increased, the infection rate showed an upward trend(x2=648.08,P<0.001).In terms of age,the infection rate was concentrated in individuals aged 13 vears and above, and there were statistically significant differences in infection rates among different age groups(x2=737.61,P<0.001).The trend test also indicated that as age increased, the infection rate showed an upward trend(x2=657.31,P<0.001).Conclusions The infection rate of mycobacterium tuberculosis among students in Gao County is 3.25%,at a low level, and the management of areas with high infection rates has been strengthened, and students in the higher school age groups should be the focus of future prevention and control efforts,in order to further reduce the infections of mycobacterium tuberculosis among students.
