Distribution characteristics and trend analysis of injury cases in sentinel hospitals of Miyi County from 2018 to 2023
Objective To understand the distribution characteristics and changing trend of injury cases in sentinel surveillance in Miyi county of Panzhihua from 2018 to 2023,and to provide the basis for formulating injury prevention and control strategies.Methods Monitoring data of all first-time injury patients in the outpatient and emergency departments of Miyi County Sentinel Hospital from 2018 to 2023 were collected,descriptive epidemiological methods was used to analyze the distribution characteristics of injury occurrence,SPSS 26.0 chi square test was used for statistical analysis of classification data,Joinpoint software was used to analyze the trend of change,and test the level a=0.05.Results From 2018 to 2023,a total of 104859 injury cases were reported in Miyi county,including 63 688 males(60.74%)and 41171 females(39.26%),with a gender ratio of 1.55∶1.Injuries mainly occur in the age groups of 18-44 and 45-64,accounting for 33.38%and 30.88%,respectively.From the perspective of injury causes,the top three causes of injury were falls(57.09%),sharp instrument injuries(10.86%),and blunt instrument injuries(9.2%),with falls being the leading cause of injury.From the perspective of injury locations,the top three were home(45.96%),road/street(16.38%),and public residential areas(10.80%).According to clinical information on injuries,the top three types of injuries were contusions/abrasions(34.66%),sharp injuries/bites/open injuries(31.02%),and fractures(14.30%).Trend analysis showed that from 2018 to 2023,the number of male and female injury cases in Miyi dounty showed an upward trend(APC was 14.06%and 18.21%,respectively).From different age groups,except for the 18 to<45 age group,the number of injury cases in the<6,6 to<18,45 to<65,and ≥65 age groups showed an upward trend(APC was 12.56%,22.66%,17.28%,and 20.16%,respectively).From the cause of injury,the number of fall injuries showed an upward trend(APC was 20.22%),and the difference of trend change was statistically significant(P=0.02).Conclusions Falls in the entire population,especially those under 6 years of age and those 65 and older,sharp force injuries 18-64 years of age,and blunt force injuries 6-64 years of age are the priority fields of injury prevention in Miyi county,and the targeted measures should be taken to prevent and control injuries.
