A comparative study on the current situation of health literacy of residents in Sichuan Province between 2017 and 2021
Objective To provide scientific basis for carrying out more targeted health education and health promotion in the future.Methods According to the health literacy monitoring data of residents in Sichuan Province in 2017 and 2021,a comparative analysis was conducted on the overall situation of residents'health literacy level and the different dimensions and demographic characteristics.Chi-square test was used to compare the rates,with the test level of α=0.05.Results The health literacy level of Sichuan residents was 14.5%in 2017 and 24.1%in 2021,respectively.The rate increased by 9.6 percentage points,with an average annual growth rate of 10.7%.The levels of basic skills,chronic disease prevention and control,and basic medical literacy were relatively lower.While,the levels of literacy among males,lower age groups,higher education groups and higher annual household income groups were relatively higher.The overall rate of correct responses to health literacy-related questions had increased,and the rate of correct answers to questions involving knowledge related to infectious diseases had increased significantly,while the health literacy related to medical specialties had remained at a low level.Conclusions The overall level of health literacy of the residents in Sichuan Province had improved.However,the work of improving the health literacy of the residents is a systematic project,which needs to be further strengthened in the future focusing on key populations and weak knowledge points.
