The relationship between internet addiction and bullying among adolescents in Xuhui District of Shanghai in 2023
Objective To explore the current situation of bullying and internet addiction among adolescents in Xuhui District,Shanghai,and to provide theoretical basis for preventing internet addiction and bullying among this population.Methods Using the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method,a questionnaire survey on internet addiction and bullying was conducted among middle school students in junior high schools,regular high schools and secondary vocational technical schools in Xuhui District of Shanghai in 2023.Stata 16.0 software was used to analyze the data statistically,and the test level was two-sided α=0.05.Results A total of 1 846 adolescents were investigated,including 888 boys(48.10%)and 958 girls(51.90%).Among them,3.47%reported internet addiction and 27.84%had experienced bullying.Multivariate Logistic regression showed a stable positive correlation between bulling and internet addiction.In the model that included all covariates such as gender,grade,parental education,family type,smoking,alcohol consumption,and participation in extracurricular physical activity,the results showed that compared with the adolescents who were not bullied,the risk of developing internet addiction was 2.56(95%confidence interval CI:1.50-4.39)(P<0.01).Conclusions The level of internet addiction among adolescents in Shanghai was relatively low,there was a significant correlation between bullying and internet addiction,which should be paid attention to.
