Epidemiological characteristics of viral hepatitis C in Bazhong City from 2005 to 2022
Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of viral hepatitis C(HCV)in Bazhong City from 2005 to 2022,and to provide reference for formulating accurate and efficient prevention and control measures.Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was performed on the data of hepatitis C cases reported in Bazhong City from 2005 to 2022.SPSS 19.0 software was used for statistical analysis.The comparison of rates and component ratios was conducted by Chi-square test,and the trend analysis was conducted by trend Chi-square test.P<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.Results A total of 2 453 cases of hepatitis C were reported in Bazhong City from 2005 to 2022,and the average annual reported incidence rate was 4.20/105.The overall incidence showed an increasing trend(x2trend=467.623,P<0.001).The highest incidence was reported in 2020(8.47/105).The incidence of hepatitis C showed no obvious seasonality.The male to female sex ratio was 1.18:1,and the mean age was(49.98±16.74)years old,with 48.68%aged 50 and above.The proportion of people aged 50 years and above was increasing by year(x2trend=200.070,P<0.001).Most of the reported cases were farmers(53.89%).The reported number of hepatitis C cases in Bazhou District was the highest,and the incidence rate in Pingchang County was the highest(5.14/105).The confirmed cases accounted for 75.83%,and chronic hepatitis C accounted for 96.40%.However,44.60%of the cases reported were classified incorrectly.Conclusions The hepatitis C epidemic in Bazhong City was at a low epidemic level,but the reported incidence was on the rise.It is necessary to focus on the prevention and control of hepatitis C in Pingchang County,Bazhou District,and key populations such as farmers,and the elderly aged 50 years and above.Targeted expanding screening,standardized diagnosis and case reporting,and improved access to nucleic acid testing and treatment for hepatitis C are needed.
