Social support for the elderly aged 60 years and above undergoing physical examination in two communities of Xining in 2023
Objective To explore the status and influencing factors of social support for the elderly aged 60 and above in Xining Community Hospital of Qinghai Province,to provide feasible basis for further improving social support for the elderly and to further improve care services for the elderly.Methods From May 2023 to August 2023,a multi-stage random sampling method was used to conduct an questionnaire survey among the elderly aged 60 years and above who were taking physical examination in community hospitals in Chengdong District and Chengxi District of Xining City.The survey contents included basic information,anxiety,depression and social support level.SPSS 28.0 software was used for correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis,and the significance level was set at α=0.05.Results A total of 304 elderly people were investigated,including 127 males(41.80％).Prevalent anxiety was reported in 11 participants(3.60％),and prevalent depression was reported in 210 participants(69.10％).The total social support score was 33.59±5.31.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that advanced age,widower/divorce,low monthly income and low weekly exercise frequency were the influencing factors of social support in the elderly(P＜0.05).Conclusions The overall social support status of the elderly aged 60 years and above is general in the community of Xining.More attention should be paid to the physical and mental health of the elderly with empty nests,old age,low monthly income and less exercise frequency,aiming to further improve the level of social support for the elderly and achieve active and happy old-age care for the elderly.
